IAS.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is one of the repetitive and demanding careers in India.

This position is popular for example IFS, IPS, etc. UPSC conducts Civil Services Examination (CSE) for a section of candidates.

Each year lakh of students are chasing for IAS because they know that the value of the position makes you positive and provides a strong and unique career choice.

Whom so ever get selected for the Administration Service they get the opportunity for other zones as well, for example:

Civil Services Examination (CSE)

Every year around one thousand candidates are selected for all 24 services combined.

So, UPSC is basically a government agency and they are only responsible for selecting the right candidate for the required sites.

Approximately 10 lakh to 11 lakh candidates is applied for UPSC Civil Service Exam each year.

Out of that around 5 lakh, students appear on the Prelims exam.

IAS (UPSC) is the toughest exam in the world that’s know to buy every selection board, considering the exam time frame extends to one year.

And the final result generally comes out in May end.

The First Stage of the exam (Preliminary) which is objective paper is normally conducted around June.

Second Stage of an exam (Mains) which is written usually conducted in September-October.

After a clear mains exam candidate has another text like face to face an interview and personality test, these tests normally happen between March-May months.

IAS Exam Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a degree (graduation) in any subject.

Universities through pass out should be incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other it could be educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament.

Plus final year students for a degree can also apply for UPSC CSE Exam.

Exam Age limit

The candidate who have 21 years they can surely appear for the exam.

For example, you are appearing for the prelims exam of 2021 then you should be above 21 years of age by August 1, 2021.

But, In the general category, the upper age limit is 32 years.

However, if we talk about OBC it is 35 years while for SC/ST it is 37 years.

The upper age limit also calculates the date of August 1st.

And Upper age limit for a deaf-mute and blind and handicapped person 42 years (general category)

How can we clear the Civil Service Exam (UPSC)?

Right preparation and time table is very important in my opinion if you are really serious about this profession then you have to make a long-term strategy.

Start the study 10-12 months before the exam date.

Might be you will get few toppers who just started their preparation 6 months before and still achieve a good rank.

Generally, it totally depends on an understanding of labels and memory power. So as per your capability, you can figure out the right time frame selection.

Candidates need to force into the main area of the subject in which question is going to come more.

IAS Exam Number of attempts permitted:

In the exam of UPSC, CSE OBC has the number of attempts permitted is 9 till the age of 35.

The general category can attempt 6 (till the age of 32) time and SC/ST category will have unlimited attempts (till the age of 37).

Physically handicapped comes under the general category and they will get the benefit of attempt 9 (till the age prescribed by UPSC-42 years).

Prelims Exam and Syllabus:

The marks you will get in the Prelims will help you to reach the main exam.

As a fresher, you should first understand the exam pattern and UPSC syllabus.

A preliminary exam happens in two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.

(I). General Studies Paper I

(II). General Studies Paper-II

The paper will be in multiple-choice, objective type.

If we talk about the main examination, it will consist of the following nine papers.

However, only 7 papers will be counted for final ranking.

That not means that you can lose any paper you should secure minimum marks prescribed by UPSC each year.

An interview has 275 marks and your main exam has 1750 marks total.
